Darren Moore
Moore started his career as the official voice of the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association (CMSA). He is the voice at many venues across the country, including the World Championships in Amarillo, Scottsdale, and Las Vegas. He announces at several American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) shows, the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) and the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) events across the U.S, including the prestigious Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He has announced in Sweden, Germany and Italy. In 2021, Moore announced for the European Reined Cow Horse Association, NCHA of Germany, the NCHA of Italy and the Associazione Italiana Team Penning. Moore is well-versed in all the distinctions in English and Western terminology, multi-tasks event music, and is a Farnam® Ambassador.
Originally from Adrian, Missouri, Moore resides in Texas today. Starting at age 9, he rodeoed until 30, competing in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) events and the Great Lakes Circuit. He was rookie of the year as a header. During that time, his roping partner pitched the idea of Moore being an event announcer.
“I was working in insurance sales and rodeoing on the weekends with Jimmy Allen (“The Big Iron”), who was my heeling partner at the time,” recalls Moore. “In 2002, we were driving back from a circuit rodeo in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan when he suggested I announce a Cowboy Mounted Shooting event that was coming up that October in Nixa, Missouri.” Moore took him up on the challenge, and, as they say, “the rest is history.”
Since 2002, Moore has been the man behind the microphone. Whether driving or flying to events, Moore brings the tools of his trade along, including his own mixer board, cables, and microphones. He tasks himself to inform and entertain everyone in attendance, whether in the stands, on live stream, or in the arena. From exhibitor introductions to event results, sponsorship information, music choices, and show updates, Moore juggles it all with ease, maintaining a high level of enthusiasm from start to finish, even when the show is 15 straight days.
In 2020, while the COVID-19 pandemic raced across the world, Moore created the “DARREN MOORE LIVE” series. The series involves interviewing well-known trainers, association leaders, event champions and promoting sponsors. Moore's series keeps his fans and audience informed through live stream and social media avenues.
